Old Timbers
is a Grade 2 listed timber frame hall house, dating back to the mid C15.
The extension to the house provides a new kitchen and dining/breakfast
area and alterations were carried out to an existing garage to form an
additional ground floor bedroom. The entrance was also remodelled. The
extension is a timber framed building with an open vaulted pyramid roof,
clad in hand made plain tiles.
We had to overcome the difficulty of designing the extension to link the
old house with the 1960s built garage without detracting from the interest
and value of the original building. A corner window was consciously
introduced to take advantage of views overlooking a delightful garden and
pond. |
